Waterfield Finn Wallet review for iPhone 7 Plus

Waterfield Finn Wallet for iPhone 7 plus is the product that is reviewed in this article. Waterfield is a well established company in San Francisco that is making device specific sleeves, accessories and other bags.

I was personally looking for a wallet that could fit my passport, car paper, a few cards and even my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 smartphone I wanted something with a high quality finish and at the same time functional, just like my Exentri Wallet.

Waterfield Finn Wallet for iPhone 7 Plus

“The all-leather Finn Wallet maintains its ultra thin profile even when fully stuffed. It comes in various sizes for carrying just cash and credit, or also an iPhone, Passport, and foreign currency. RFID-blocking certified material is optional. See also Finn Access Wallet which includes an external pocket.”

The Waterfield Finn Wallet has a high quality and stylish finish. The cowhide leather has a really smooth & soft surface and has a slightly matt black color finish.

I’ve ordered a black leather version in size #29 that could perfectly fit an iPhone 7 Plus and also fits my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. Size #29 means that the Waterfield Finn Wallet has the following dimension: 16,5 cm x 10,8 cm.

When you think the ultra thin profile would be a term just for marketing purposes, you are completely wrong. The wallet is really thin, almost 50% of the thickness of the Waterfield Club Cycling Pouch. However you can still stash a lot of things in the Finn Wallet. The Waterfield Finn Wallet stores:

  • Passport;
  • Car papers (and cards);
  • Insurance card and a couple of plastic cards;
  • Smartphone if needed;

The inside of of the Waterfield Finn Wallet for iPhone 7 Plus is from Waterfield’s well-known ballistic nylon. This material is highly durable. On the side you can see four card sleeves to store the plastic cards in a structured and systematic way. Furthermore you can see the “MADE IN SAN FRANCISCO SFBAGS.COM” label sewed on the inside.

I would like to highlight the YKK locking zippers, which are also used on the Waterfield Micro Wallet. The advantage of these zippers is that you can feel the different zipper-lock-positions when rotating the zipper handle. There is a rubber protection cover on the zipper end. All in all the zipper feels very robust and durable, just like the rest of the wallet. However it is not a waterproof version (compared to the Club Cycling Pouch zipper).

RFID blocking certified material

One of the unique features of the Waterfield Finn Wallet for iPhone 7 Plus is the RFID blocking material that is integrated between the full-grain leather exterior and the internal ballistic nylon liner.

It can be selected as an option during the ordering process. Waterfield was kind enough to provide me with a picture of the RFID blocking material during the production process of a Waterfield Finn Wallet.

While you don’t see this material on the outside, it protects your precious banking cards and passport on the inside.

Concluding thoughts and wrap-up

Waterfield Finn Wallet for iPhone 7 Plus is a large high quality wallet, that I specifically chose to keep my car papers, passport and travel creditcards safe. The ultra thin profile makes it easy to handle while the leather finish gives it a business style look (that will get better and better overtime).

Waterfield Finn Wallet for iPhone 7 Plus has a price point of $59,00 with an additional $10,00 for the RFID blocking material. The total price point is not cheap, but from experience I know that the Waterfield products are build to last, given the craftsmanship and use of high quality materials.

In addition I had a few questions to the Waterfield team regarding the size before I’ve made my purchase. These were perfectly answered. With that service kept in mind I don’t mind spending a little more money.

Currently Waterfield also provides the Waterfield Finn Access Waller for iPhone 8 Plus. And “access version” of the Finn Wallet wasn’t available when I ordered minde. So this access version is certainly an option to consider. I’m even thinking to replace my current Exentri Wallet (without RFID block) with a Compact Finn Access Wallet with RFID shielding (size #25).
